Mr Lawrence Impey qualified in 1988 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) in 2007. He was educated at Oxford University and University College in London and he has been a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine in Oxford since 2001. He was featured in Tatler’s Best Doctors Guide in 2013.
He is the author of the leading medical student textbook in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, now co-authored with Tim Child in its fifth edition (2017) http://www.impeyobgyn.com/ . Mr Impey is director of sub-specialty training in maternal and fetal medicine and clinical lead for high risk services in Oxford. He is the clinical lead for the Oxford AHSN Maternity Network http://www.oxfordahsn.org/our-work/clinical-networks/maternity/.
He has published >50 original research papers in high risk obstetrics. He is currently working on the detection of pregnancies at risk of placental insufficiency using ultrasound. Mr Impey has lectured widely in the UK and abroad including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, US and Sri Lanka.
