Cervical length scan: 16-34 weeks

This is an internal scan, assessing the risk of late miscarriage and pre-term delivery.

Giving birth too early is the largest single cause of childhood handicap and this test is extremely sensitive. 
It is usually only appropriate for woman at higher risk, but can also be used to determine whether contractions
in pregnancy are likely to lead to early delivery.
