Anomaly scans

This is a detailed inspection of the baby that is performed from 19-22 weeks.

The scan takes 30-60 minutes. Although most structural problems will be identified, it is not as good
as a nuchal scan at detecting Down's Syndrome. This scan will be performed in detail, can be recorded
onto a DVD, and will allow a close look at the face and limbs, heart and other organs. We can tell you
the baby's sex at this stage and will take '4-D' views if you wish.

Mr Impey cares for most of the babies with serious structural abnormalities that are to be born in this
hospital and is therefore well placed to perform this scan.
