Pre-eclampsia is a common condition which affects 5 every 100 women in their pregnancy and can result in raised blood pressure and protein in the urine.

What does the uterine artery Doppler scan involve?

The scan takes around 20 minutes. The Doppler scan will specifically look at the blood flow to the womb to determine the likelihood of developing pre-eclampsia or placental problems later in pregnancy. The growth and well-being of the baby will also be assessed during the same scan.
